After reign of terror in Umuahia, Police nab Grave's crime partners, recover cache of arms

Robust efforts of the Abia State Police command to reduce crime rate in Umuahia, the state capital has yielded a significant success following the recent arrest of a criminal gang said to belong to the syndicate of late Grave, a notorious robber recently killed by the police in the state, ABN TV reports.

Briefing newsmen in Umuahia on Tuesday, the Commissioner of Police in Abia, Etim Ene Okon said the peace residents of Umuahia enjoyed after the killing of Sampson Iheukwumere Nwokocha popularly known as ‘Grave’, was truncated as his loyalists surfaced and unleashed terror on the residents of the capital city.

According to the police chief, around 10 January, 2020 the city recorded series of car snatching, armed robberies and trailing of Bank customers to and from Banks, activities linked to the deadly gang.

“One of these was the robbery and shooting of one Basil Okechukwu ‘m’ of Obowo Imo State on 16/01/2020 around Post Office Umuahia while on transit with the money he withdrew from one of the Commercial Banks.

“The gang made World Bank Area their safe Haven due to numerous routes therein that could facilitate their escapes” he said.

CP Okon expressed regret that while the gang perpetrated their nefarious activities, intelligence reports to curtail their activities never came.

ABN TV gathered that the gang met their waterloo when a gallant patrol teams on Operation Puff Adder swooped on them.
