Chief Charles Okereke, one of those who witnessed the Nigerian civil war has cautioned those he accused of insulting others in the name of agitating for independence of Biafra, insisting that freedom is not achieved through calling others name and publicly insulting them.

In a chat with ABN TV on Friday said that constituted authorities must at all times be accorded due respect, especially those who were elected by the people.

“You do not gain independence by insulting others. We have elected leaders, they might say they rigged themselves in but no condition is permanent. They have to participate in the electoral process. They should be lawful and participate in elections if they want a change.
By this, they will get people who will represent them. These people will go to the National Assembly and tell the Nigerian society that this is what our people want. It is not by making threats and insulting others”.

He emphasized that while it is the right of anyone to agitate, IPOB he said does not represent the opinion of the generality of Ndigbo since the people have not resolved on Biafra.
