Former House of Assembly member for Arochukwu state constituency of Abia state, Hon. Elder Luke Ukara Onyeani has said his decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) is one he has been nursing since four years ago.
In a chat with newsmen in Umuahia on Wednesday, he said there is no APGA member that is not a member of the APC, saying what he did amounts to movement from the boys’ quarters to the main building.
“In APGA, we work with the APC. In 2015, we adopted the APC presidential candidate as our own presidential candidate. In 2019, even though we had a ‘presidential candidate’ there was still an understanding that we will vote for APC presidential candidate” the former lawmaker said.
According to the former lawmaker, his movement to APC is borne out of conviction that it is a good development for anyone to move into what he called mega party.
He said nobody would want to remain in boys’ quarters when the opportunity to move into bigger and better buildings is available. “That is exactly what I have done” he stated.
Hon. Onyeani underlined that it is not easy to be in a party that does not control the state, adding that the APGA, the former party does not have national coverage.
He said his movement into the APC will give him the opportunity to contribute his own experience to the development of the country.
“In APGA, we could not even do much because we are not in the state, we are not at the national level. Your idea and experience cannot be put to bear. As an APC member and former House of Assembly member, if the party is doing something, I will be recognized” he stated.
He said he believes in the ideology of the APC, saying the PDP did not do enough for the people of Arochukwu in the sixteen years they were in office.
According to him, the APC has the ideology of fostering development, saying the Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway has received attention under the government of APC.
He said the second Niger bridge has become a reality because APC is in power.
He added that nobody is APGA can deny his membership of APC, which accounts for why they all adopted the candidacy of President Buhari in 2015 and 2019.
