Uzodinma’s Pledge To Assist In Lady Okwaraji’s Burial A Democracy Day Gift — COSEYL

Umbrella body of youth organizations in the South-East zone, the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has commended the Imo State governor, Sen. Hope Uzodinma for promising to assist in the burial of late lady Janet Okwaraji, mother of late Green Eagles football star, Samuel Okwaraji.

The youth organization while describing the governor’s intervention as a welcomed development added that it has further rekindled the faith and hope the people of Imo have in his administration.

“This is a good democracy gift to the immediate family Okwaraji and his community at large. The governor have demonstrate to Ndi-Imo that it pays to be patriotic and dedicated to your fatherland” the group said in a statement by Hon. Goodluck Egwu Ibem and Comrade Kanice Igwe, President and Secretary-General respectively.

COSEYL also took a swipe at previous administrations, accusing them of not doing enough to honour her and others who have served the country meritoriously.

Successive government before him did not find it fit to honor her heroes and heroines who distinguished themselves in their various fields of endeavors who are indigenes of the State.

“It is a thing of joy to remember those who made positive contributions to the progress and growth if their fatherland. Okwaraji brought honor and respect to Imo state and Nigeria at large. He paid the ultimate price during his service to his country and it is heartwarming to hear of a plan to honor his sacrifice and service.

“We call on the federal government, Ebonyi State governor and Chairman southeast governors forum, Governor David Nweze Umahi, governor of Enugu State, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the governor of Anambra State, Governor Willie Obiano, the governor of Abia State, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Senators, federal house members and honourable members of the state houses of Assembly, Igbo illustrious sons and well-meaning Nigerians to emulate Governor Hope Uzodinma who have taken a bold step to honor a Samuel Okwaraji’s service to his country 33 years ago.

“The government and its representatives must understand that appreciating its citizens who have distinguished themselves in their various callings and have brought honor to their country is the sure way to encourage patriotism and promote national growth.

“Our youths of today must be made to know that it pays to render selfless service to your country and being patriotic to their fatherland pays even when you are no more” the statement read.
