BREAKING: Joe Biden, Barack Obama Twitter Accounts Hacked

Presidential hopeful Joe Biden and former president Barack Obama were just one of many high-power movers and shakers to have their Twitter accounts hacked Wednesday to spread a cryptocurrency scam.

“I am giving back to the community,” read a tweet supposedly posted by Biden. “All Bitcoin sent to the address below will be sent back doubled! If you send $1,000 I will send back $2,000. Only doing this for 30 minutes,” according to a screengrab acquired by Business Insider.

A similar tweet appeared on Obama’s Twitter account.

Also hit was Elon Musk.

“I’m feeling generous because of COVID-19,” allegedly tweeted the SpaceX CEO. “I’ll double any (bitcoin) payment sent to my (bitcoin) address for the next hour. Good luck, and stay safe out there!”

It wasn’t just celebrities but topnotch businesses as well.

“We are giving back to our community. We support Bitcoin and we believe you should too!,” read the official Apple account. “All Bitcoin sent to our address below will be sent back to you doubled.”

The blockchain address used in the scam had already collected about $26,000 worth of bitcoin by Wednesday afternoon, according to TechCrunch.

Early Wednesday evening, the hackers infiltrated Kim Kardashian’s account.

“Feeling nice! All (bitcoin) sent to my will be sent back doubled, enjoy.”

The tweet appears to omit the word “account” but the meaning is evident.

Twitter finally addressed the issue late Wednesday afternoon.

“We are aware of a security incident impacting accounts on Twitter,” tweeted Twitter Support. “We are investigating and taking steps to fit it. We will update everyone shortly.”
