COVID-19: Gregory Ibe Foundation Commences Second Phase Of Palliatives Distribution

Plans have been concluded for the flag off of the Professor Gregory Ibe Foundation (PGIF) second phase of COVID-19 palliatives to Abians.

The foundation had earlier rolled out palliatives where it distributed Test Kits, Thermometres, Ambulances, Decontamination Services, and many Natural Curative Drugs to the state government, over 1000 bags of 50kg rice, 4000 cartons of noodles and other food items to the 17 Local Government Areas in the state.

In a statement issued by Hon. Prince Emeka Okafor, Chairman, and Sleek Ogbonnaya Ogwo, Head, Media Prof Gregory Ibe Foundation (PGIF) no fewer than 2000 bags of rice, 4000 cartons of noodles, 300 bags of beans, tubers of yam plus many bags of garri and salt have been made available for distribution to Abians in this second phase.

The Foundation says it intends to consolidate on the gains made in the first phase of the exercise.

“Sequel to the above, therefore, the leadership of the following groups are hereby requested to come to the Sports Complex of Gregory University Uturu for the official flag-off ceremony of the second phase of the Prof Gregory Ibe Foundation COVID-19 Palliatives Distribution Exercise for the less privileged citizens of Abia State as follows;

Date: Monday 13 July 2020
Time: 10am
Venue: Gregory University Uturu.
The invited groups for the flag-off ceremony are;

1.Nigeria Union of Journalists,Abia Chapel
2.Nigeria Institute of Public Relations,Abia State
3. Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria,Abia State.
4. Leadership of Abia Crusaders from Isuikwuato LGA.
5. Leadership of Abia Crusaders from Umunneochi LGA” the Foundation said.

It further added, “Subsequently, mobile teams from Prof Gregory Ibe Foundation will commence direct physical distribution of palliatives in the remaining 15 LGAs simultaneously as follows;
TUESDAY 14 JULY 2020
1. 10am-Ukwa East and Ukwa West LGAs
2. 3pm- Ugwunagbo & Aba North LGAs
WEDNESDAY 15 JULY 2020
1.10am-Aba South & Osisioma LGAs
3. 2pm-Obingwa & Isiala Ngwa North LGAs
THURSDAY 16 JULY 2020
1.10am- Isiala Ngwa South & Umuahia South LGAs
3. 2pm- Umuahia North & Ikwuano LGAs
FRIDAY 17 JULY 2020
1.10am- Arochukwu & Bende LGAs
2. 1pm- Ohafia LGA”.

The Foundation cautioned that there will be strict adherence to all existing COVID-19 protocols including but not limited to wearing of face masks, use of hand sanitizers, and adoption of the social distance regime throughout the duration of the exercise.

Please be well guided as non-compliance will lead to immediate disqualification from the exercise. The leadership of the invited groups are required to present valid identification tokens duly certified by authorising persons.

“Please note that this present second phase of the Prof Gregory Ibe Foundation COVID-19 Palliative distribution exercise is targeted at less privileged Abians who are most affected by the pandemic, even as plans have commenced for the third phase in order to accommodate more stakeholders. Subsequently, only invited groups will be entertained as strict compliance with the schedule outlined above will be meticulously adhered to.
