Karim Benzema Voted La Liga Player Of The Season Ahead Of Messi

Karim Benzema has been voted the best player of the just concluded La Liga season according to fans as the Frenchman scored 21 goals to help Real Madrid win their first title in three years.

Messi ended the 2019/20 season with 25 goals to his name which ensured that he won a record seventh Pichichi trophy while also registering a league record 21 assists, breaking the record set by former Catalan team-mate, Xavi Hernandez.

The Argentinian also became the first player in the history of LaLiga to record 20 goals and 20 assists in a single season – a feat that only Thierry Henry has achieved this century in any top European league.

Despite his achievements this season, Barcelona lost out on LaLiga title to rivals, Real Madrid and now as per a poll conducted by Spanish publication, Marca he has lost out to Karim Benzema as LaLiga’s Best Player of the Season.

Benzema scored 21 goals in the league to lead his side to the title, with the Frenchman picking up 37% of the votes as compared to Messi who received 31% of the votes. Los Blancos skipper, Sergio Ramos meanwhile rounded up the top three, picking up 14% of the votes.
