A former Chairman of Arochukwu local government area of Abia State, Chibuike Jonas, former Chairman has taken a swipe at former senator for Abia North, Sen. Mao Ohuabunwa.

This is in reaction to the request made by the former lawmaker at the weekend during the burial of Mr. Jumbo Offor in Arochukwu.

Ohuabunwa had asked Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu, the current Senator for Abia North and Senate Chief Whip to use his office to repair the road leading to Ihechiowa from Arochukwu.

This however did not go down well with Mr. Jonas who queried the moral ground for which Sen. Ohuabunwa is demanding such.

In a chat with ABN TV, the former local government chairman stated that Sen. Ohuabunwa was a member of House of Representatives for eight years, accusing him of neglecting the road.

He further observed that while Sen. Ohuabunwa was in the Senate for 4 years, he could not repair the road for which he is begging for Sen. Kalu’s intervention.

Mr. Jonas further said the burial ceremony where the people were in a mourning mood was not a perfect avenue to make such demand.

He added that Sen. Kalu has started work on the road, expressing regret that it has not been completed due to the demise of the contractor handling the project.

According to the former council boss, Kalu has expressed commitment to complete the project in no distant time.

He further urged Sen. Ohuabunwa to go back and apologize to the people of Abia North over what he called poor performance during his stay in office, advising him to make good of his office if re-elected in the future.
