A Professor of Linguistic, Prof. Chukwuemeka Otagburuagu has charged budding politicians to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship and courage to succeed.

Prof. Chukwuemeka spoke with ABN TV weekend at the sideline of a meeting of APC stakeholders at the instance of his son, Barr. Chukwuemeka Otagburuagu, a former Abia Assembly aspirant.

He encouraged his son who lost election to the PDP not to lose hope, adding that politics requires courage and patience.

The academic while citing the instance of President Muhammadu Buhari who contested three times before winning in 2015 urged those who intend making a successful career in politics not to give up but keep attempting.

“Rome was not built in a day, politics requires courage. Only the courageous can survive and thrive in it. I advise my son to be courageous. I’m not playing partisan politics. I encourage my son and his party.

“What we want is a party that will give us the dividends of democracy, a party that will make the common man smile. If that party is APC, all well and good. If that party is PDP, all well and good. Most importantly, we’re looking for credible candidates, candidates who are not self-seeking” he said.
